Review: Nevermore

Nevermore
Nevermore by James Patterson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I finished this book in a grand total or 4 hours. I think that's a record for me. (I really should start keeping record shouldn't I?)

So, the world ended. It actually ended this time. I was bawling so hard when I thought Max was dead. AND MAX AND FANG FINALLY GOT THEIR BUTTS BACK TOGETHER!!! I was so happy! One of my friends (the one who let me borrow the book) said she wasn't satisfied with the ending. I must disagree though. I was quite satisfied with it. Just about the only thing I have to say against the ending is that it should have gone longer. I would have liked to see how life goes for them in this new world that was just for them.

My after reflection went like this: I've read two books, both in which the world ended. One ([b:This is Not a Test|12043771|This is Not a Test|Courtney Summers|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1314375864s/12043771.jpg|17010494]) and one [b:Nevermore|11946245|Nevermore (Maximum Ride, #8)|James Patterson|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328150920s/11946245.jpg|15380149]. [b:Nevermore|11946245|Nevermore (Maximum Ride, #8)|James Patterson|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328150920s/11946245.jpg|15380149] left me feeling hopeful. I thought about it and thought about to figure out what was different and then I got it: In Nevermore, Max had her flock and the people she loved with her despite the apocalypse just having happened. Sloane on the other hand was taken away from those she loved most and saw them worse than dead.

I'm glad I read both of these books so close together. It made me realize that no matter what, should should protect those you love no matter the cost. It doesn't matter if the world is ending. Because when it comes down to it, that's all you have.

Review: This is Not a Test

This is Not a TestThis is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I sat down to write this review, I had no idea what to rate this book. It's a book about the zombie apocalypse. It posed this question to me: When there's nothing left to live for (quite literally), how do you go on living? What reason do you have for living. These questions have terrified me. I sincerely hope that the zombie apocalypse never happens. Like, with all of my heart and every fiber of my being. The fact that I'm thinking about it so deeply, I feel like I should give it five stars. I just can't do it though. When I give a book five stars, it means that I absolutely love the book and that everyone I know and don't know should read it. I don't feel that it's right to impose this book on anyone. Not for the reason of terribly bad literature, character development, or any of those other reasons we give for not liking books, but because when I was done reading it, I felt like I was in a hopeless state. I was numb. It was very depressing. While the characters were fantastic and the storyline was realistic, I can't say I want anyone to ever read this book. I certainly am not going to read this book again. That's not to say that I won't read the first and last pages again. The first so that I can see what went wrong, the last so that I can try to understand Sloane's state of being, her state of mind.

The only words I wish you to take from this are these: Read at your own risk.

Review: The Time Keeper

The Time Keeper
The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't even know what to say about this book. All I can be sure of is that it left me with tears. Happy tears, self realizing tears. The words in this book have left their mark on my soul.

If you are browsing books and you happen upon this one, pick it up, buy it, read.

Love Love Love!!

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
By: Jennifer E. Smith

I read this book in the span of less than 4 hours. It was absolutely amazing! In the time span of 24 hours, this book is about a girl traveling to London to attend her father's wedding to a woman that she's never met. After she misses her flight by a mere 4 minutes, she runs into a boy who happens to be on her late flight.

Where to start. Oh my. It was written brilliantly. While the story of Hadley and Oliver is happening, we find out more about Hadley through her memories. It was all very clever really. The prologue was fantastic. It described the title in the most thorough way. I read it aloud to my sister and she said it was like she knew the contents of the entire book in such a mind-blowing way. The dialogue. Oh my gosh, the dialogue between Hadley and Oliver flows so naturally. In the end, when the wedding was going on, I was crying so hard! Harder than any book has ever achieved with me.

This book wasn't just about love between these two people who seem to have met by the fate of four minutes, but it's also about the love between father and child, mother and daughter. I cried because the love felt so tangible and sweet and real. It made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. Jennifer E. Smith has definitely made a fan of me. I can't wait to read the next book of hers. :)
